A large company may hire you to be a full time webmaster....meaning you work at updating their own webpage constantly....some webmasters are freelance and can either be hired to do a one time web design for a person or company, or may be hired to make periodic updates. Freelance web designers generally have several clients at once and work at home or their own office. If you are a full time webmaster for a company you will generally work at the office of the company, such as the headquarters, and your main focus is solely to update and maintain their company website. (of course on the side in your free time you can have part time clients!)
